Sagan is an experimental, strongly typed programming language for geometry, astrodynamics, numerical work, and real-time simulation.

Current implementation

The repository currently contains a complete tokenizer for the current lexical specification and a token-dump command-line program. It does not yet contain a Sagan parser, semantic analyzer, runtime, or C++ code generator.

Where to begin

  • Getting started explains how to build and run the tokenizer demonstration.
  • Language tour introduces the intended language. Its examples are design sketches until the parser exists.
  • Lexical specification records the tokenizer's implemented UTF-8, Unicode, literal, comment, and operator rules.
  • Project status separates implemented behavior, settled design, provisional design, planned work, and open questions.
  • Implementation describes the compiler roadmap and current source layout.

This is internal documentation version 0.1.0-internal.1. Pages are work-in-progress unless their banner explicitly says they are publication-ready. Content being present does not mean it has completed review.
